CAConrad (USA, 1966)
By PoetryFoundation.org CAConrad grew up in Pennsylvania, where he helped to support his single mother during his difficult youth. Influenced by Eileen Myles, Audre Lorde, Alice Notley, and Emily Dickinson, Conrad writes poems in which stark images of sex, violence, and defiance build a bridge between fable and confession. He is well known for his (Soma)tic poetry rituals, which he has described as, “how I live in my awareness.”

Adrian Matejka
(Germany, 1971)
By PoetryFoundation.org Adrian Matejka was born in Nuremberg, Germany and grew up in California and Indiana. He earned his BA from Indiana University and an MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The poet Aaron Belz wrote that, “Matters of race and identity, figured against the ever-shifting backdrop of media culture, are of central importance to Matejka.” Matejka’s poems make use of musicality, pop culture references, and unexpected combinations of images and phrases.
