festival reflections

Billboard
The billboard on the facade of the City Theatre has always been used as an informative surface to communicate the time and date of the festival. Last year the billboard was offered to the artist Peter Koole (NL) as a NewCanvas. Within the same framework and financial conditions he was asked to use the surface for an artistic statement. This year the surface is offered to Marc Bijl (NL).

Centrefold_festival magazine
The centrefold page within the festival magazine is offered to Poetry&Art to communicate its program. In turn, Poetry&Art have opened the centrefold as a platform for direct artistic statements by offering the surface to an artist. An overprint of a thousand copies is used as an independent poster and cover of the Poetry&Art program brochure.
This year the surface was offered to Joseph Kosuth (USA). Based on his proposal a special hand printed edition of his work is made to accompany the Poetry&Art program brochure.

Notes_DeSerafijn
The visual artist Q.S. Serafijn (NL) makes Notes on the festival. He is asked to look and think, to make comments and offer suggestions. His daily festival report is widely spread by email. The Notes are intended to function as a festival dairy and blueprint. This will become a final text for a publication about Poetry&Art since 2004, to be published in 2007.

Art, Text & Language_video interviews

Festival Review_public video screenings
Each evening of the festival a video-review is made of the performances and presentations. This is presented the next day at several locations in the city. In order to promote the festival, a specially made trailer and review of last year will be shown during the week before. The festival reviews also function as historical document communicating the visual appearance of Poetry International festival, something that until now has never been done.
Screenings at the Centre for Visual Arts Rotterdam (Nieuwe Binnenweg 75), Theatre Café Floor and TENT./Witte de With (Witte de Withstraat 50).
Video-registrations by z-F productions and Rossella Biscotti (IT), editing by Ana A. Fernández (ESP/NL)
