K. Michel ranks among today’s leading poets in the Netherlands. Between 1989 and 2004 he published four books of verse of which the third, Waterstudies (water studies) won him both the Jan Campert Prize and the 2000 VSB poetry prize. Michel’s poetry is witty, thoughtful, light-footed. His precisely worded images express empathy, unobtrusive wisdom and a contagious sense of wonderment.
