Lea Schneider [Germany, 1989]
Lea Schneider is a poet and a translator of contemporary Chinese poetry. In her poetry, people circle each other looking for a stable centre, for direction – like in the prose poem “Autumn in Nanjing”, which she will be performing at the festival, in which thoughts, observations, references and questions are forged into a visually evocative poetic report. At the same time, what emerges here is a highly individual, fully committed political voice that comments on current and universal topics, from rape culture to materialism. Due to her unique combination of precise and abstract descriptions of events and situations, however, her work always remains ambiguous, speaking to our associative abilities.
