Santiago Vera [Peru, 1987]
Santiago Vera Cubas made his debut in 2012 with Volúmenes silenciosos (‘Silent Volumes’) and published the collection Libro de las opiniones (‘Book of Opinions’) in 2014. In addition to his work as a poet, he is the co-founder of the Peruvian poetry collective ‘Ánima Lisa’ and teaches philosophy at the Pontificia Universidad. His background in philosophy is apparent in his work, in which he regularly takes the time to reflect on his own thought process and on currents in society. He explores technology, production and consumption – the challenges of modern life. With clinical distance, as well as humour and nuance, he sets out the world according to mathematical principles, in geometrical figures and spaces of his own choosing.
