You probably know her best for her dreamy indie-soul-bedroom-pop (hits like \u201cEugene\u201d and \u201cBlack Dog\u201d), or for her brand-new album Ambiguous Desire<\/em>, but London singer-songwriter Arlo Parks (GBR, 2000) is also a poet. In 2023, she published her poetry debut The Magic Border<\/em>, in which she explores themes such as queerness, grief, trauma, and love. During Poetry International Festival, Arlo Parks will give a unique poetry masterclass \u2013 think of it as a glimpse into her creative process, in which she explores how complicated feelings can be transformed into poetry and how that alchemy of writing can become a form of healing. What matters most to her when writing poems? What does poetry offer her that music perhaps cannot, or how does it complement her music? Be inspired by this global star!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arlo Parks will take the stage again on Friday evening for a special appearance at the Poetry International Festival, where she will be interviewed and give a unique poetry performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arlo Parks (2000, GBR) is a celebrated singer-songwriter and poet from West London, whose music and poetry have earned worldwide acclaim. She grew up in a multilingual family with Nigerian, French, and Chadian roots. As a child, she listened to her father\u2019s jazz records, while also being shaped by emo and indie music. Around the time of her final school exams, she began making music on GarageBand. Not long afterwards, she released her first single, \u201cCola\u201d, and signed with Transgressive Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, Parks made her debut as a poet with The Magic Border<\/em>, a collection of poems, lyrics, and intimate photography by Daniyel Lowden. In both her poetry and music, Parks explores themes such as queerness, grief, trauma, and love. With great success: for an entire generation, Parks has become an iconic artist whose music, language, and subject matter are inseparably intertwined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
