And who better to provide explosive performances than <em>the<\/em> platform for spoken word in its broadest sense, <em>Woorden Worden Zinnen<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this festive edition of <em>Woorden Worden Zinnen<\/em>, the many interpretations of the festival theme <em>Word on the Street<\/em> come together seamlessly. International poets such as Lynthia Julius share the stage with local talents like Oumaima Yahiaoui, the newly appointed youth Poet Laureate of Rotterdam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the cozy, home-like microcosm of <em>Woorden Worden Zinnen<\/em>, not only visitors but also artists feel at ease. Performers dare to share raw and personal texts, express themselves freely in their performances, and premiere new work for the audience. She grew up in the diamond town of Kimberley and writes in the Gariep Afrikaans of the Northern Cape, in constant dialogue with the Standard Afrikaans of the canon. Trained first in philosophy and later in Creative Writing, she is a poet whose work combines precision and layering with raw, uncompromising honesty. His show The Legacy of Colonization explored pre-colonial history through the eyes of museum artefacts. In 2025, his self-portrait and digital poetry merged with kawina music in a permanent multimedia installation at Carnegie Hall, New York: <em>A Colored Illusion<\/em>. He is part of the speculative arts collective BSAM, and released the vinyl single 'Sweet &amp; Sour' with Sweet Toko \u2014 a fusion of spoken thoughts and Afro-Latin music in Sranantongo.
