Take a seat at the main reading of poets Hendri Yulius Wijaya and Dominique De Groen. This is the moment to get to know both the poetry and the person behind it.

Dominique De Groen (1991) is one of the most distinctive voices of her generation in the Dutch-language literary landscape. With her understated delivery and raw language, she explores how technology, ecological crises and everyday systems shape us, as well as the different ways we navigate them.

Hendri Yulius Wijaya (1990) is this year’s Poet in Residence at Poetry International and one of the few openly queer poets in Indonesia. In his work, he shows how the norms of family, community and country can be constraining and where he finds or creates space to simply be who he is.

Host Tsead Bruinja opens the main reading with a short introductory conversation. The poets then read from their own work, bringing a selection of brand-new poems, an ode to the festival theme, or a surprising gem from their oeuvre.
