Poetry is there for the taking, hiding in plain sight. With that in mind, Rotterdam-based poet Wessel Klootwijk takes you on a guided tour through the south side of the city. With an imaginary pair of binoculars, we cycle and wander through the Feijenoord district, searching for and sensing poetry the streets reveal to us.
What or who do we encounter that holds poetry in a literal sense? We’ll discover artworks on tiles, walls and even garbage trucks. We’ll also look for places where poetry is present in a more figurative manner: as something you feel rather than read. Like where different epochs collide in the architecture around us, or where glances are exchanged in the street. We will sharpen our senses and do this urban exploration as a group. We will encounter poets and discuss the question: what role does the street play in your words and vice versa?
