Ellen Deckwitz (NLD)

Ellen Deckwitz (1982) is a poet, writer, columnist and performer known for her boundless energy and sharp perspective on language and literature. Since her debut collection De steen vreest mij (2011), which won the C. Buddingh’ Prize, she has become one of the most influential voices in Dutch poetry. She writes columns for NRC and De Morgen, presents poetry slams, and co-hosts the popular podcast Boeken FM. With bestselling books such as Olijven moet je leren lezen, she has made poetry accessible to a wide audience. In 2024, Deckwitz was appointed Poet Laureate of Amsterdam. In 2026, she wrote the Poetry Week gift Metamorfosen for the Dutch Poetry Week.
